Destination: Tropical
“I’ve been thinking a little about this place lately.”
Roaming around with no place in mind isn’t all that unfamiliar to him these days. If he’s behind honest, the first few months of being the Captain of his own ship had been fun. He appreciated being able to go wherever he wanted, see whatever it was that he wanted to see, play in any sabacc game he heard about, drink the booze of many worlds and meet some new people. In some ways, it was everything he ever wanted and exactly what he’d hoped for.
Something was missing, though. A feeling that gnawed at him regularly without knowing exactly what it was.
”I’m heading to a warm, tropical climate and I think I’m gonna be on the planet for a couple of days. I’m wondering what what everybody in the nexus would pack, if they were going somewhere sunny.”

She pulled the glass back with her free had and sipped, either she was feeling the effects or the drink had smoothed out since they'd been sitting there. She hardly felt the bite of it at all which made a second gulp go down all the smoother.
The foot rub got a grin out of her and she didn't pull away. "I think I ought to eat something, after this." She held up her glass which had somehow gotten half empty and blinked at it. "I might be a bit late on that now." Hadn't that been her intention to start with? Food and talk? She'd been so involved in their conversation that she'd allowed herself to let down her guard and now she had to recover some. She waved down a passing server and asked for the menu. "After eating though, I don't have any set plans at all."

“We should eat.” Han says agreeably. Not wanting either of them to become too drunk. “Then, if we’re still having fun, we can go on to the next thing.”
Han picks up a minute for himself and has his mind made up within about a minute. He’s been to a couple of nexus restaurants and knows generally what he likes and what he doesn’t like. He’s going to get a barbecue sandwich and chips because he’s never tried barbecue anything he didn’t like.

"I like you." She wasn't aware she was going to say it until she did, but it was true. there were old sayings of truth spoken while imbibing and perhaps that was the case here, or just that she felt it was safe to tell him so. Rather than swell on it she pushed ahead. "What would you like to do after?" There were parks and museums she thought she remembered, an array of local sights to see, some games though she wasn't sure she understood bowling even after it had been explained to her.

It worried him how quickly he felt drawn to Leia and how badly he wanted to get her better. Even though he had loved someone very much, it had developed over years of time spent to together. This felt like he had been hit by a lightning bolt and fast as they were moving — drinks and food to what are you doing later — still felt like he was crawling his way though getting to know her.
“I still feel jealous of the person who got to have a midnight swim with you.” He says with enough of a smirk to play it off like he was kidding, but you better believe he’s paying very close attention to her response. “I’d like to do something where we can still talk. Whether that’s bar hopping, finding something to do or just going somewhere that we can extend the conversation is fine with me.”
no subject
"Do you?" It was hard to keep her tone from fishing a little on that. She was clearly pleased by the way she was trying hard not to appear as though she was. "I'd like that too, somewhere quiet maybe. I've heard there are some spectacular views to be had here." And watching a sunset with him sounded appealing.

If he was supposed to play coy here, he failed that pretty hard. He didn’t really see much point in trying to be subtle about how he appreciated Leia. No matter how much fun they had and how long they wanted to stretch this out, there was going to come a point where he they both had to go back to where they came from. Princess Leia, no doubt, couldn’t disappear in the nexus for long periods of time without being missed.
“If we had a speeder, we could go out to the wild. The terrain moves out here, but I’ll bet if you get out far enough, you might be able to see everything shifting.” He says with a shrug. “A good idea for when we have more time to plan ahead, I think.”

She was about to comment on how lovely, but yes impractical his suggestion was, when the food arrived. It smelled delicious, or again perhaps things were just conspiring to make things attractive to her. And she'd taken a sip of water before she processed what he said.
"So you'd like to make more plans?" She hadn't quite caught that when he first said it.
no subject
And her question comes for him while in mid-chew. He takes a moment to finish what he’s eating and swallow, at least, before responding... “I’m not getting ahead of myself by just assuming it will go well, am I?” He picks up and gestures at her with it, pointing, so to speak. “I told you I liked you.”
Han, then, begins munching on that chip.

She didn't get the feeling he was the sort who had a pretty girl in every space port, but she realized she didn't know much more about him than she had before.
"If we were on a world I knew I could suggest a dozen things to do, it feels odd being the newcomer and unprepared." Part of her life as a diplomat and leader was to know what she was getting into. Because the Nexus changed so much it was almost impossible to be properly prepared for it.
no subject
At her mention of the nexus, Han squinted around him. As if it might help him gleen a new insight about the place by doing so.
“I can’t say a few months in I feel much different.” He says. “But then, I didn’t have as compelling of a reason to come back as I might now.”

Leia felt better as she continued to eat, the food letting her body slow down the alcohol a bit but she was already well on her way to a very relaxed intoxication.
"You are dangerously charming." She smiled and sipped more water. "After we finish I may have an idea for us."
no subject
“Care to share?” He says, hurrying through chewing to ask her. “You have me squirming over here.”
no subject
"I recall there is a park here, with paths and benches. It's nice for a stroll. Might even be a pond there if I remember the write up of it." And maybe it might be nice to take a walk, enjoy some nature which he likely didn't see in his time on Corellia as he'd told her. And maybe dip toes in the water a bit.
no subject
When he stopped to think about how she and him could have gotten off to a bad start, it seemed so unlikely to him. He couldn’t help but wonder exactly what had gone wrong.
“I like the way that you think.”

Leia was making her way through her meal, grateful for the reprieve it might offer her from further drink related confessions."That's a first." She laughed lightly and found herself enjoying his company all the more.
no subject
So he’s pushed the plate away from him now and is nursing a water and mostly watching Leia. He thinks that he’d find her really interesting no matter who she was, because she’s pretty and thoughtful, but he knowing some version of him and her being royal, made her even more so. What she’ll notice about this Han that will definitely read different from the one she knows is that his face is resting in a smile.
“Probably not the last.” He says, and looking entirely charmed by her, he adds. “So, do you like being a Princess?”
no subject
His speed didn't bother her, it wasn't anything that affected her so why should it? But the fact that he was watching her, and her delicate bites, made her self conscious. She kept having to remind herself this was not the man that took every chance for a dig at her. So she tried to not let it bother her and simply enjoy what was actually a very tasty meal. She'd just taken a bite of pasta when he asked his question and she had to chew, a napkin helped cover her mouth and avoid showing the surprised smile that she made.
After she chewed and had a drink of water, she cleared her throat. "Like? I don't know that I've ever even considered that. What is to like a station you're born into?" She pushed more pasta around and then paused. "I liked what it meant I was able to do. My parents would have been wonderful if they hadn't been Queen and Prince consort. But with that position I was able to make a difference. I voted on many important bills in the senate, organized campaigns for nonhuman sentient rights recognition, tried to push more worlds to abandon slavery. So I was lucky to have that opportunity."
no subject
It’s not biting or sarcastic as he points it out, but conversational. He gets the impression that she’s not entirely at ease with him watching her so closely, so he divided his attention between her and the hearth of the tavern. The last thing he wants to do is make her uncomfortable and the other hand seems to have done that on some level. As he’s always pleasantly surprised by him being friendly.

Leia finished the last of her food and again cleaned her lips before folding her napkin and laying it to the table. "Do you think we dare take something sweet for the evening?" A dessert, some wine...sounded like it might make a nice addition to their outing. And she had no desire to rush things ending any too quickly.

He couldn’t deny that being the Captain of your own Ship could seem like being the King of your own Castle to some. “I’m thinking one is a little more isolated than the other.” And as a King it seemed like you were generally rich, whereas he was definitely not rich. Matter of fact, he was surprised by how hard that it was to keep on top of the expense of keeping the Millennium Falcon space worthy.
“Something sweet, huh? Now that you bring it up, I don’t think our night would be complete without it.” He says with a more genuine smile. Han’s not sure that he’s ever had dessert with a date before, but he’s eager to brake that trend. “Something with chocolate.”
no subject
The little sound she makes at the mention of chocolate betrayed her particular love for that treat. Leia waved the server over and asked for a menu. "You can pick something if you like. I'll just use the refresher and be right back." She stood to leave the table and test just how much she'd had to drink so far, to her credit her steps were fluid but not sloppy.
no subject
“Sure. I’ll be right here.”
While Leia is gone, Han settled on a flourless chocolate cake that he orders while she’s using the ladies room. He also orders them each a cup of caff, which, he figures might be a good move for two people that seemed to be angling for extending the evening.
no subject
"Excellent choice." She complimented the selection before she retook her seat. Caff had a touch of sugar and cream added and stirred, darkness just taking a slightly more caramel hue. She looked at the cake, simple but classic and it looked delicious. "You have more will power than I do, I don't think I could have waited to try it."
She took a fork and neatly scooped a bite of the cake, that cute noise he admired from before returned with a throatier finish as she tasted it. "That has to be illegal somewhere."
no subject
“I think I’ve found a Princesses’ weakness.” He says, bemused by the sound and her comment. He reaches in with is own fork and goes for a bite for himself. He manages not to make a noise, but she will see him scrutinizing the fork (and putting it back into his mouth) to make sure he got all the cake off.
She might also notice the return of his foot nudging playfully against hers.
no subject
"One of my many flaws, I assure you." But perhaps after tasting that cake he can understand just why that might be. She helped herself to a second bite and slowly savored it before setting her fork down to sip the caff. "I could probably eat that whole thing by myself. So please do help me with it."
The next time his foot goes to nudge her's, it wouldn't be where he thought. Rather a shoetip would slide along his ankle while she placidly sipped her caff.
